Profile of Department of Mathematics

Department of mathematics is focused on education, research and application of quantitative methods in economics, especially in the areas financial mathematics, actuarial (insurance) mathematics and economic analysis. In conjunction with the Department of Statistics it is a sponsor of specialization named Insurance Mathematics and Statistics. It is also department for doctorate study in the branch 62-11-9 Statistics with a view to Insurance Mathematics.

Department of Mathematics provides education for the whole university in subjects Mathematics A, Mathematics B in all forms of study and another 18 subjects which can be compulsory or optional.

Department of Mathematics consists of two sections:

• section for insurance and financial mathematics: doc. RNDr. Jozef Fecenko, CSc. head of section
• section for engineering mathematics: doc. RNDr. Ľudovít Pinda, CSc. head of section
